The 15M Movement is a social movement that emerged from popular outrage and originated in the Demonstration of 15 May 2011 that toured more than 50 cities throughout Spain and in which more than 200 associations participated.

The main demands are a radical change in Spanish politics( PP- PSOE bipartisanship) and rejection of unemployment, cuts, corruption and an unfair system that considers people to be mere tools . Basic rights, such as the right of access to housing, the right to work, political participation, culture, public health and free education are required to be fulfilled.

More than 200 camps and 600 assemblies (organized in working groups) took place throughout 2011 in which these claims and proposals were made. Subsequently, Acampada Bankia (2012-2013), Inviernos al Sol (2013) and Acampada Mordaza (2015) took place. The demonstrations and marches covered the entire Spanish geography.

More than 1,000 groups have appeared in these years focusing their efforts on concrete struggles. Some sectors such as public health or education have been organized into tides, the white tide and green tide respectively. Associations, social centers , cooperatives, time banks and social currencies have also emerged.
